In a future post, which I promise, I will address the implications for our economy and the future of work posed by AI, the greatest disrupter of all — and we’re only in the first inning.
In the meantime, read this from one of the middle and high school educators I know, who is thoughtfully wrestling with the implications of AI for education, which are vast: Steve Fitzpatrick (I have gotten to know Steve through my work trying to promote the use of debate in the classroom, a topic on which is an expert). Steve doesn’t have all the right answers, yet — no one does — but certainly knows how to pose the right questions.

AI is here, it’s powerful, its implications for society are enormous. I know you’ve probably read other things about it. Steve’s piece should top your list, if you have one, and if haven’t read much about AI, read Steve’s post.
In the meantime, if you haven’t tried any of the top AI engines — ChatGPT, PerplexityAI, Gemini, etc. — start now. You’ll see what I’m talking about.
